Cobra Insurance – Can I elect to cover only my spouse?

Considering leaving my current employer where I have health coverage for me, my spouse and kids. For reasons I’ll omit here in the sense of time and simplicity, I’d like my wife to continue our existing coverage via Cobra, while I switch to a private plan with the kids.

Is this possible? Can I continue coverage for only my spouse?

**Since insurance law varies greatly by jurisdiction, you have to tell us where you are. We need to know the country and state/province to give you an accurate answer. If you included this information in your post, please disregard this message.**

  2. Yep. You can elect to cover any combination of yourself/dependents.

You may want to call the Cobra provide to double check the cost.
