First “Real” Credit Card for First “Real” Job. Looking for advice!

* Current cards: (list cards, limits, opening date)
* Local Credit Union VISA. $1,000 Limit. Opened 3-ish years ago.
* FICO Score: 744
* Oldest account age: 3 years
* Chase 5/24 status: Pretty sure I would be 0/24.
* Income: Once job starts in a month ~$80,000
* Average monthly spend and categories:
* dining $300
* groceries: $400
* gas: $200
* travel: $0
* other: $250-500
* Open to Business Cards: No
* What’s the purpose of your next card? Would prefer travel, open to cashback. As I understand it travel gives better “bang for the buck” if you use the points which I would be able to do.
* Do you have any cards you’ve been looking at? – Chase Sapphire Reserve or Preferred. Preferred has the better opening bonus (100k vs 60k), but would get benefit out of a lot of the Reserve perks.
* Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? General spending card ideally. Want to keep things as simple as possible, and potentially upgraded to CSR after 13 months if I go with the better opening bonus.

  1. Csp with the upgrade to the csr is the best option right now.

    Citi premier is also a good option.

    What point system you choose really depends on what hotels/airlines you like.
