Month to month extended warranty/insurance for a car

This is in California USA. Can I get a warranty for a car that runs well now, but might have problems down the line because its a certain problematic european brand. We’re looking for something similar to health insurance. That will cover transmission or engine or any other work on the car. Not accident insurance, which we are required to have anyway. What are the best options? We’re okay waiting a few months for the insurance to become active, or getting the car inspected beforehand. The car is already out of warranty. We would like to re-sell the car within a year. So maybe a 1 year insurance term would be perfect if they don’t have a monthly option. Are there deductible/%coverage options, or is it all or nothing coverage? Let us know what the best options are. Thanks

  1. What you’re looking for is an extended warranty. There are a gazillion of them out there to choose from. You’ll have to look them up and pick a few to compare side by side to see which one works best for you.
